The doctrine of progressive sanctification teaches us that we are, over the course of our lives, becoming more and more like Christ. And if you've been a Christian for any period of time, you understand that that sometimes is three steps forward and two steps back, four steps forward, 10 steps back. But overall, our trust in the Lord is growing, and you may not think it is. And it may feel so slow to you, your faith in God at times may waver, you may wonder why He's doing this, or why He's doing that in your life. But if you will take the long view, and if you will look back over five, and 10, and 15, and 20 years, you will find that God in His mercy has been strengthening your faith muscle so to speak so that you are now able to trust Him more and more. Believe me, He's doing this work in you, it's not you. It is Him, through His holy spirit, so trust Him that he's helping you to have more faith.
