In our church and in many churches that are endeavoring to disciple one another, we have mentors who disciple mentees or mentorees, and in many wonderful churches that is an organic process, where maybe an older believer just kind of brings a younger believer along.
But everyone who's ever discipled someone probably has come across the circumstance where the person you're discipling seems to be way less motivated to be discipled than you are to disciple them.
And really the only cure for that is just to be honest with them and to just ask the question, what is it that would motivate you to want to know Christ more, that would motivate you to want to be in the word, to be in prayer?
And what is it that maybe is stopping that hunger? And go ahead and just address it because now you're actually discipling them by addressing their lack of hunger for discipleship.
So just be direct and honest and ultimately over time, if that person really shows a lack of interest, you might want to consider discipling someone else who is interested.
