I remember well that feeling as a young Christian of going to a Bible study or sitting in a worship service and feeling as though I'm just not measuring up to these wonderful mature believers all around me. Feeling like I'll never have their Bible knowledge, I'll never be able to pray like they pray. Sitting with my grandfather as a child and hearing him pray, I remember thinking I'll never know how to talk to God that way.

Well ultimately that becomes a focus very much on yourself and if you're experiencing that, if you feel inferior around other believers, then I would urge you to grab one of those believers under whom you feel inferior and say, help me to walk with the Lord the way you do and encourage them to be a mentor for you and to learn from them. We all need that. We all should be being mentored by someone and perhaps mentoring someone else as well.

And as you get into the word and in prayer with those with whom you formerly felt inferior, you'll begin to see that ultimately your identity is found not in comparing yourself to anyone else, but your identity is found in the fact that you are in Christ.
