When it comes to the question of whether dinosaurs were real and if they are mentioned in the Bible, we can answer “yes” to both. Let me explain.

First, dinosaurs were indeed real. Some people suggest that lesser forms of dinosaurs still exist on Earth today, but traditionally, dinosaurs were created on the sixth day of creation along with all other land animals. In fact, there’s archaeological evidence—though not widely publicized—that suggests, just as described in the Bible, that humans and dinosaurs may have coexisted. While I won’t go into details about how they didn’t prey on humans, the point is that they existed at the same time, with no long ages in between.

The Bible states that God created the heavens and the earth in six 24-hour days. On day six, both dinosaurs and humans were created simultaneously. So, are dinosaurs biblical? Yes. The Bible references creatures that could be interpreted as dinosaurs. For example, there’s the Leviathan, often described as a sea monster, and the Behemoth. In Job, there’s even a description of the Behemoth swinging its tail like a mighty tree, producing a sound like thunder. Some paleontologists now believe that certain large dinosaurs could indeed create a thunderous sound with their tails, as skeletal evidence shows stress points where these “crack points” might have produced loud sounds.

Another interesting point is that cultures around the world, including ancient Babylon, Egypt, and Cambodia, have carvings resembling dinosaurs. For instance, archaeologists in Cambodia found an 800-year-old temple with carvings that clearly depict a stegosaurus. From a young age, we recognize what a stegosaurus looks like, and it seems that people in the past were familiar with them too, possibly through a cultural memory passed down through generations.

According to the biblical account, dinosaurs primarily died out during the Flood of Noah. However, it’s conceivable that Noah took smaller or baby dinosaurs on the Ark. After the Flood, the altered environment likely made it difficult for large dinosaurs to survive.

So, are dinosaurs real? Absolutely. Are they biblical? Yes. And, as for one more question—could they return? The Bible speaks of a new heaven and a new earth, with everything made anew. So, if you’ve always wondered what a T. rex looks like in real life, perhaps one day in the Kingdom, you’ll find out.
