Do you think that Matthias or Paul will have their name on the gate and foundation side in New Jerusalem?
Well, that's an easy answer for me. It's going to be Matthias. I can give you a couple of reasons, and if you don't like that because you love Paul, listen to the end of the answer. Matthias was the one chosen to replace Judas- that was very clear in Acts chapter 1. So at the end of Revelation when we get this this revelation from the Lord- that the names of the Apostles are written on the city wall- the foundation, Matthias has to be one of the twelve. Matthias gave his life for the gospel just like all the others did. He was a faithful minister of the gospel.
Now if you don't like that answer because you love Paul, rest assured: I love Paul as well. He is my number one hero in all of the New Testament except for the Lord Jesus Christ himself. I can't prove this from Scripture, but Paul I think will probably be given something totally different, totally unique in heaven. I will say this, Paul had a nickname for himself. He called himself the "least of all the Apostles", and so it would not make sense for him to be written on the wall. I think instead he'll probably be given some sort of monument, which in the new heaven, the new earth is really cool because he can stand there and maybe give autographs or something right at his monument. But no, it's going to be Matthias on the wall.
