I'm always hesitant to say that anything doesn't matter if I can show from scripture that it matters to God because the fact is, is that if something matters to God, then it needs to matter to us. And one third of our Bible has to do with the end times, it has to do with prophecy. Some of those prophecies have been fulfilled already, certainly, primarily in the person of Jesus Christ but many, many of those prophecies have yet to come, prophecies of the return of Christ and the kingdom of God and how that's going to be set up. And so if it matters to God, it needs to matter to us. But on a more personal level, on a day to day level, the fact is, the Bible has prophecy because it encourages us. It gives us hope for the future. The end of First Thessalonians, chapter four tells us to encourage one another with words of prophecy because Christ is coming and form that, we derive encouragement.
