A Simple Gospel Presentation

The gospel literally means “good news”. This makes sense when you understand the wickedness of the world in its sin (and our part in it as sinners), and the hope we have through the redeeming work of Jesus Christ. God created and owns everything in the universe, and is therefore worthy of our obedience. Man fell in sin when the first man and woman disobeyed the God’s commands, and is now accountable for those sins, a debt we could never repay to a perfect God requiring a perfect payment. All people sin, and all attempts to make amends or fix our fallen state will always fall short.

Thankfully that’s where we learn we don’t have to do it on our own (and we can’t do it on our own!) Jesus Christ came and lived a perfect life as a man, fully God and fully man, and died for the sins of the world on a cross to cover our sins. His death wasn’t the end, because God raised him from the grave and in so doing, takes the punishment of death from us and cancels it with Jesus’s perfect obedience and righteousness. We have life because of his death!

Romans 10:9 says that “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Place your trust in what Jesus did on the cross for you, agree that you are sinful and in need of repentance, and turn from your sin in obedience to God. He offers you forgiveness and new life this very moment!
