If our Christian faith can't intersect with the culture at every level, then our faith is not useful to us in our lives. And a big question happening today is the question of firearms. Is it okay for a Christian to carry, to brandish a firearm?

Well, let's take it back to what Scripture says is the responsibility of a Christian man, for example. One of the responsibilities of a Christian man is to protect his family. Now, whether he chooses to do that with a firearm, with a baseball bat, with a security system, with multiple locks on his doors, that's his business. And he's free in Christ to make that decision.

What he's not free in Christ to do is to tell everyone else that if you own a gun, that's somehow wrong. A gun is just like any other object. It's something that can be used for evil or it can be used for good. The first murder was carried out by a large rock. So we couldn't outlaw all rocks or say that all rocks are evil. Jesus himself is called the rock. So that's a freedom in Christ issue for you to be prayerfully making your own decision about.
