Is it selfish to take my family on a vacation?

One of the things that cherish about being a Christian is that my regular life is not separated from my faith. There is no sacred and secular. Everything in the life of a Christian is sacred. Every decision we make is filtered through, how would this be honoring to Christ? How is this obeying the Word of God? And taking, for example, the family vacation. Is that selfish, or is it a godly thing to do? Well, it depends. Are you fulfilling your God-given responsibilities to provide for your family, and now you've earned the ability to take a few days, and to enjoy time with your family? Then absolutely, that's a wonderful thing to do, as the leader of your family. But if you're taking a vacation because it's an escape from reality, and because you don't wanna face certain issues in your life, and you're just using it as escapism, then that becomes an issue of faith, and, perhaps, lack of faith. And so as you filter this and any other issue through obedience to Christ and his Word, you'll find yourself able to make a good choice.

Una de las cosas que apreciamos de ser cristiano es que mi vida normal no está separada de mi fe. No hay sagrado y secular. Todo en la vida de un cristiano es sagrado. Cada decisión que tomamos se filtra, ¿cómo sería esto honrando a Cristo? ¿Cómo obedece esto la Palabra de Dios? Y tomar, por ejemplo, las vacaciones familiares. ¿Es eso egoísta o es algo piadoso? Bueno, eso depende. ¿Cumple con las responsabilidades que Dios te dio para mantener a tu familia y ahora te has ganado la capacidad de tomarte unos días y disfrutar del tiempo con tu familia? Absolutamente, eso es algo maravilloso que hacer, como líder de tu familia. Pero si te vas de vacaciones porque es un escape de la realidad, y porque no quieres enfrentar ciertos problemas en tu vida, y lo estás usando como escape, entonces eso se convierte en un problema de fe y, tal vez, falta de fe. Y así, a medida que filtres este y cualquier otro problema a través de la obediencia a Cristo y su Palabra, podrás tomar una buena decisión.
