In our church, in an organized fashion, and also organically, and in your church perhaps in an organized fashion, or also organically, we have a word that we all love, and that is discipleship. Discipleship at its core is really one believer pouring into the life of a less mature believer and showing them what they know, showing them the ropes, so to speak, of walking this walk. But you might be asking, well, what do I look for in a mentor? What do I look for in someone that I would like to disciple me?
I think the answer is very simple. Look at their life. Look at the fruit of their walk with Christ. Look at their marriage. Look at their children. Look at how they live their lives.
And if this is someone that seems to be being blessed by the Lord in many ways because of his obedience to the Lord, and if this is someone that you could emulate and that you want to model your life after, then that's the person to go after and to ask them and to plead with them, would you show me how to do what you're doing.
